He was able to conceive because he kept his female organs when he switched genders.
To conceive, Mr Beatie stopped the bimonthly testosterone injections he was receiving as part of his sex change.
The couple bought anonymous donor vials from a sperm bank and, struggling to find a doctor willing to help them, resorted to home insemination with a syringe bought from a vet that is typically used to feed birds.
“I actually opted not to do anything to my reproductive organs because I wanted to have a child one day. I see pregnancy as a process and it doesn’t define who I am,” Mr Beatie told the TV talk-show host Oprah Winfrey in April. “I feel it’s not a male or female desire to have a child. It’s a human need. I’m a person and I have the right to have a biological child,” he said.
Mr Beatie caused a sensation when he went public with his pregnancy in Advocate, a gay magazine. He posed holding his bulging naked stomach for a photograph reminiscent of Demi Moore’s headline-grabbing 1991 cover photo for Vanity Fair. “How does it feel to be a pregnant man? Incredible,” he wrote. “I will be my daughter’s father, and Nancy will be her mother. We will be a family,” he said.
A cameraman for the TMZ website filmed him leaving the hospital in a hooded sweatshirt, without a bulging stomach. In his Advocate article, Mr Beatie recounted the struggles he faced to have a child.
“Doctors have discriminated against us, turning us away due to their religious beliefs. Health care professionals have refused to call me by a male pronoun or recognise Nancy as my wife. Receptionists have laughed at us. Friends and family have been unsupportive; most of Nancy’s family doesn’t even know I’m transgender,” he said. His first successful insemination ended in a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy with triplets, resulting in the loss of all his embryos and his right Fallopian tube. “When my brother found out about my loss, he said, ‘It’s a good thing that happened. Who knows what kind of monster it would have been?,” he wrote.
Mr Beatie has said he may have more children, once he has experienced fatherhood.

Pig With Monkey's Face...

Yes, this miracle happened in China and many very amused to see a Pig born with a Monkey head !! It has rear legs which are also much longer than its forelegs, causing it to jump instead of walk. The big question is whether this pig would live on ground or climb on trees when it grows up. His art enables him to give a spiritual appearance to one or more of his figures, and to exhibit them as "thin air" amid the solid realities of the stereoscopic picture.
The first firm to mass-market 3-D images, the London Stereoscopic Company, published views (like the one above), entitled "The Ghost in the Stereoscope." My friend and I were on our way to visit someone who had given us directions to her house. After half an hour of driving, we realized that we had forgotten to take the paper with the directions on it. Our friend's new home was located in a remote rural area in the mountains of western Pennsylvania. As we passed the last landmark before her home, we began to count the dirt trails that intersected with the road we were on. When we reached what we believed to be the right one, we turned onto it and bounced along the road through the forest toward where we thought the house was located.
A few minutes into our drive, a white cat suddenly appeared in front of our car in the center of the trail. It looked through the windshield directly at us through the heavy fog. My friend slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting the cat. Our hearts were in our throats. We were certain that we had hit the cat and that we'd find it under the wheels of the car. We got out of the car to look for the cat, but it wasn't there. We hadn't seen it move from the spot where it stood in the center of the road, and we were practically on top of it before we realized it was there. I walked behind the car to look, but the cat wasn't there. I then decided to walk up ahead of the car for a bit to see if I could locate it. That's when I made the discovery that the cat had saved our lives. Not more than five feet in front of where the car had stopped was the edge of a cliff. There was no barrier - just a sheer drop off the side of the mountain. We searched and searched, but never found the cat. That dear, sweet, beautiful animal had been a guardian angel to the two of us that night.

: A 56-foot, 60-ton sperm whale died on a beach in Taiwan in January, 2004.

Whale: A 56-foot, 60-ton sperm whale died on a beach in Taiwan in January, 2004. Researchers wanted the carcass to perform an autopsy and for research, so they loaded the whale onto a tractor-trailer and set out through the city of Tainan, heading for the Shi-Tsau Natural Preserve. It took 13 hours, three cranes and 50 workers to get the whale loaded on the truck. Unfortunately, on the way through the city, gasses built up to a critical level in the whale and it exploded, spewing whale guts in the street, on the cars and over pedestrians. According to witnesses, the smell was pretty bad. Residents and shop owners put on masks and tried to clean up the mess. Eventually the whale continued its journey to the research center.

'Ripley's Moving theatre'...........

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v9.nonxt7.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Db09c658e290290df%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331190964%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D7E03B648D17CA101E3A01CD186C4A765BB511744.58F26E4BE826C40665A087CF18A95E759B572710%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Db09c658e290290df%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3Dia06NItwPAMlowrKs7DUs35mtJA&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Experience the thrill of Ripley’s Moving Theater! The building the museum is housed in sits directly on the world-famous Atlantic City Boardwalk, and from the facade looks as though the building is being torn in half by a giant earth shaped wrecking ball. Among the museums treasures you will find a lock of George Washington’s hair, a 27 room miniature wood carved castle, and a scale model of the Santa Maria that was created with over 27,000 matchsticks. You will be stunned and amazed at all of the treasures at the Ripleys Believe It Or Not Museum, another must-see on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.

The creator of the Ripleys Believe It Or Not Museum was, oddly enough, a Mr. Robert Ripley. Ripley was an artist, author, and radio broadcaster, who was born in Santa Rosa, California in 1893. Ripley was an industrious youth, and sold his first drawing to Life magazine at the tender age of only 14. Later in life, while working as sports cartoonist for the New York Globe, Robert Ripley began amassing his first collection of oddities, the same kinds of artifacts that now populate his museums all over the country. It wasn’t long before traveling and collecting rare and odd treasures became a Ripley obsession. During his career Robert Ripley visited 198 countries and circled the globe 18 times.

It was in1933 that Ripley exhibited his first "Odditorium" to the nearly 2 million people at the Chicago World's Fair. From there, the history of Robert Ripley becomes woven into the fabric of our own, with the introduction of the Ripleys Believe It Or Not museums around the country, including the one in Atlantic City.

Be sure to take your time when visiting the Ripleys Believe It Or Not Museum along the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The museum houses over 400 exhibits in 13 themed galleries that will certainly take a whole afternoon to enjoy. You can even go online, or contact your Atlantic City reservations agent, and find out about coupons for discounts off admission and even find out more about the history of Robert Ripley and the Ripleys Believe It Or Not Museum in Atlantic City. The museum is open from 10 am to 10 pm during the summer months (May - August) and 10 am - 6 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am - 8 pm Saturday and Sunday during the off-season (September - April). Students, seniors, military, AAA members and children are discounted, so display your ID up front at the admission booth.
Ripley's Believe It or Not!

Wherever Robert Ripley went, he searched for the odd and the unusual. Believe It or Not!

I bet you sometimes ask yourself, are ghost real? Have you ever wondered to yourself and asked yourself where is that thing I put down in that spot and now it's gone. I know I put it there, or I know I seen it there. Mysteriously it's gone. Well let me reassure you that, yes, they are real. I asked myself this question many, many times throughout my life and I always thought that maybe they are true or maybe they aren't! The day came that I can now swear to you, cross my heart, believe me it's true that I have experienced a couple of situations that I have now come to realize that Ghosts DO EXSIST on this planet...
I was brought up in a family of seven children, I was the second eldest. Lived our lives on farms in old houses, not rich and not poor either. I used to think I was imagining things throughout my life and wondered if I truly saw the things I thought I saw. I began to doubt my self.
When I was married and had children of my own, we moved into my husband's grandfather's house. His grandmother passed away in the house years and years earlier, and his grandfather passed away in hospital. We moved into the house, I was cooking dinner one night in the kitchen and out of the corner of my eye I saw two ghostly figures gliding past the kitchen door, it looked like they were holding hands, but that was what I saw out of the corner of my eyes. I looked in at the door and I walked out and looked around to where I had seen them, I walked out to where they had gone and I couldn't see anything, my husband was in the lounge room and that was where the ghost had came from, I asked him "did you see that?" he replied with "what?"
I told him what I had seen and he just looked at me. I thought to myself if this were real and I truly did see this then it must be grandma and grandfather and at least they are together now. I was not spooked but it answered my questions, ghosts are true. Strange things happened in this house, we heard things, we came home to the microwave being on one afternoon, there was nothing in the microwave, it was turned off but it was going. I called out to my husband and we both stood there looking at it trying to figure out what the heck was happening. We looked at each other and thought "unplug the damn thing". That is what we did.
Sometimes we woke in the mornings and the fridge was opened and at night when we went to bed we would hear footsteps across the floor, my husband woke one night and said he saw his grandfather standing at the fireplace, I used to sometimes lay in bed and think I seen something and felt the presence of something in the room but I just chose to ignore it and believe to myself it wasn't going to hurt me...
This is so true and I have chills down my spine. Believe me. This is the first time I have ever shared these stories. But as I have learned to live with these ghosts I always believed that they will not hurt you and that they just want to share this world with us.
Accept it and let them live. We can't get rid of them and they don't want to hurt us. We will all be ghosts at some time.

Believe It Or Not:

1. My keyboard played by itself.
True. An acquaintance came to play music at my house, and seemed to bring some kind of playful presence. It stayed with me for approximately eight months. It would just pound on a few keys whilst I was trying to practice (almost like a child trying to play!). My bass player came over one day, and witnessed it. She said, "Uh...what's that?" I tried to explain, but somehow she knew that I had an extra-dimensional friend, and smiled as if to understand. Shortly after that, I got fed up with the interruptions and asked it what it wanted (I said, "If you're of the light, come to me in a dream") and, amazingly, it told me, and then was gone. In the dream, it seemed to be a beautiful, angelic presence.

2. My tambourine sounded the end of a nightmare.
True. At the very end of a disturbing dream, my tambourine was heard in the next room. Maybe "someone" was trying to help discontinue my food-induced nightmare! (Bram Stoker supposedly wrote "Dracula" after eating lobster! Gee, but I don't want to be shellfish....

3. A zombie liked my music.
True. That's an easy one. Someone from the Zombies band (Paul Atkinson) liked my music.

4. My mother signed me up for door-to-door accordion lessons against my will
Unfortunately true. Naw, just kidding (about the unfortunate part, that is). Weird Al told me he was also inducted into the wonderful world of accordion in the same manner (but not by my Mom). Actually, accordion gave me a good, basic keyboard knowledge -- but "Lady Of Spain" is out.

5. I survived dorsal fin-infested waters off the coast of Hawaii.
True. I was in a rubber "raft" (a dingy), when I saw a dorsal fin pop out of the dark waters -- and my heart almost popped out of my chest! Luckily, and to our relief, there were approx. 50 dolphins, dancing around the boat. Perhaps they were protecting us?

7. William S. Hart's ghost took a picture of ME!
True? David and I went to the William S. Hart ranch (very cool, if you ever get a chance, go! It's up near Sylmar). I went to the "restroom" (boy, we Americans have funny expressions), and whilst I was there, I heard a loud pop, and saw a quick flash. The light bulbs were all intact. I told the groundskeeper, and he and the others got all excited about the possibilities. Then, we took a video of our tour, and later watched it back. We were amazed to see a door open by itself on camera -- rather interesting. "Someone" was glad of our visit?

8. Queen Mary is a "spirited" place.
True? Well, I think so...David and I spent a New Year's Eve there (an overnighter). It was very cool, and I hope we can do it again soon! But, one night, I was on one of the cabin floors (keep in mind it's a very big ship), at the end of the hall, when I got a bit of a funny feeling. I didn't say anything to David, but several hours later, he had been in that same place, and told me about the strange feeling he had had -- in the same place! We learned several months later that that was supposed to be one of the most haunted spots on the ship --it was the location of the children's infirmary! I know I have a way with children, but....

9. After having a love session with my beloved, we went over to the Christmas/memory tree to admire it. My husband saw one of the crystal "raindrops" moving, and when he reached his hand out towards it, it moved
even more. He told me to put my hand on the other side of it, and when I
did, to our surprise, it swung like a pendulum (from our energy, or?)
Yes, amazingly true!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.smallerthanus.co.cc/2009/05/ghosts-are-true-believe-it-or-not.html' title='Ghosts Are True. When dark clouds burst on Thursday noon people of the sleepy village of Manna (20 km north of Kannur), never thought it would be a real manna from heaven: It rained fish and many collected live ones straight from the sky. Sounds bizarre, but it’s true. Two experts, who rushed to the area, have confirmed the celestial dropping did carry live fish. “We have collected the fish from locals. Almost the size of a small pencil, they carry two narrow stripes,” Prof Khaleel Chuva, a teacher in Taliparambha, explained. Prof Chuva and his colleague K I Mathew are studying the specimen.Scientists argue it can happen during high-velocity winds, which may sweep the earth surface and catch light objects in the wind. The objects are released when the wind speed weakens. But what is baffling scientists is the live nature of the fish. Many incidents of animal and crab raining were reported from different parts of the world. But ‘live rains’ were rare, experts admitted.

Documenting the story of a village
P. K. Ajith Kumar
Laudable venture: A still from ‘Katha Parayunna Mukkam ‘
Kozhikode: Every village has a story to tell. Katha Parayunna Mukkam is the story of Mukkam, a 40 minutes’ drive from Kozhikode, told, at some considerable length, through a video documentary.
The documentary lasts — believe it or not — nearly seven hours.
Director Vinod Manasseri says it became so long because it was made originally in a serialised form for the local cable television channel.
“And when I wanted to make an edited version for its video release, I didn’t know what to cut out,” he adds. “So I decided to retain everything made it into six separate CDs, segregating into different sections such as education, agriculture, business and banking and politics.”
Though there are a few flaws in the making of Katha Parayunna Mukkam — such as overuse of background music, less-than adequate voice-over and lack of brevity — it is a laudable effort; if nothing, posterity can always look back at this fairly accurate history of its village. Besides the pleasing shots of the greenery of the village, remembrances of a freedom fighter and a descendant of a survivor of the Malabar Riots of 1921 make the film interesting.
Vinod, who is also the producer of Katha Parayunna Mukkam, says he has already been able to sell 2,000 CDs so far.
“I hope to sell a few more; since there are six CDs, people have the freedom to buy only the specific CDs they are interested in,” he says

Good things come in small packages....

What is common between owl, spider,glow-worm, butter fly and ant?
They all are smaller than us.We often overlook these amazing tiny specks in our daily lives. What we don't realize is that just how important these little creatures are and how much can we learn from them. It is the small things, small gestures, and small moments which make our lives beautiful. The small creatures motivate us to bring change in the way we think and respond to the situations. So it has been rightly said..

Vision is the art of seeing things invisible to others

Owl represents the realm of the unknown; as guardian of the night, thus a keeper of wisdom.
